Cookie Policy

Last updated: 12 June 2026

This policy explains how Cyprus Villa Retreats uses cookies and similar technologies on this website, what they do, and the choices you have.

The short version

Essential cookies keep the site working and are always on. Everything else, analytics and advertising, only runs with your consent, and you can change your mind at any time through your browser or our cookie banner. We never use cookies to collect more than we need.

This summary is here to help, but it is not the full picture. The complete sections below are what apply.

What cookies are

Cookies are small data files that a website stores on your browser or device. They help a website remember who you are, keep things working as you move from page to page, and understand how the site is used so it can be improved.

Essential and non-essential

  • Essential cookies are strictly necessary for the website to work or to provide a service you have asked for, such as keeping your search dates while you browse or holding your booking session through checkout.
  • Non-essential cookies are everything else, such as analytics cookies that measure how the site is used, or advertising cookies that make adverts more relevant. These are only placed with your consent.

Session and persistent

Session cookies last only as long as your browser stays open. Persistent cookies remain until they expire or you delete them.

First party and third party

First party cookies are set by our own website. Third party cookies are set by other companies whose tools we use, such as analytics or advertising providers. You can read more about cookies in general at allaboutcookies.org.

Essential cookies we use

These keep the website itself working: holding your villa search and dates as you browse, keeping your booking hold and checkout session alive, remembering your cookie choices, and site security.

Legal basisLegitimate interests, Article 6(1)(f) GDPR: making sure our website functions properly and providing the online services you have requested.

Most browsers let you block all cookies, including essential ones, but parts of the website such as search and checkout may stop working properly if you do.

Analytics cookies

Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use the website: which pages you visit, how you arrived, how long you stay and what you click. We collect this on an anonymised basis and use it to improve the website and our service.

We use Google Analytics for this. You can read how Google handles this data in Google Analytics' privacy policy and opt out of Google Analytics across all websites with Google's opt-out tool.

The previous version of this policy also listed call tracking (CallRail).

Legal basisLegitimate interests, Article 6(1)(f) GDPR: analysing how the website is used so we can improve it. Placed only with your consent.

Advertising and third party cookies

Advertising cookies record information about your visit so that adverts you see elsewhere, for example on Google or social media, can be more relevant. These include:

  • Google Ads cookies, which track whether you arrived via one of our adverts and help us measure campaigns.
  • Google remarketing cookies, which let us show you adverts about our villas on other websites after you have visited ours.
  • Meta (Facebook) Pixel, which measures the effectiveness of our Facebook advertising and can be used to build advertising audiences.

These providers aggregate data across the sites that use their tools. You can read more in Google's cookie policy and Meta's privacy policy.

Legal basisLegitimate interests, Article 6(1)(f) GDPR: promoting our villas and measuring our advertising. Placed only with your consent.

Web beacons in emails

Our marketing emails may contain web beacons, tiny image files that tell us whether an email was opened and which links were clicked. They cannot read anything else on your device. You can limit them by blocking images in your email app, and every marketing email we send includes an unsubscribe link.

Legal basisLegitimate interests, Article 6(1)(f) GDPR: measuring the effectiveness of our email campaigns.

How to accept or reject cookies

Our consent banner

When you first visit, a cookie consent banner lets you accept all cookies or choose essential cookies only. Your choice is remembered on your device, and you can change it at any time: select here or in our website footer to reopen the banner and update your preferences.

Browser settings

You can also accept, reject or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time:

Blocking some or all cookies may affect how well the website works, and clearing your cookies will also clear your saved preferences, including your cookie choices themselves.
